Yogish: Above video extended beyond 6 mins of original video. I have fixed the issue. Here is the new link

Just found a way to remove water mark from kannada text books. Because mainly I wanted to use the pictures from these text books to create YouTube video of our own using existing geometric tools and camtasia

You can download PDF element software from website. Then open your original kannada text book (PDF ) in PDF element. Just go to optimize PDF, file size will comedown to half and water mark will be removed from all the pages in just a second.

I don’t know whether we can upload back these text books (that don’t have watermarks) in to our website. If we can the download will be faster because the file size is smaller. Downloading textbooks from government websites is very slow.

My intention is to use only the pictures from the text books

I just created a PowerPoint presentation for the lesson ‘straight line’ or ‘saralarekhe’ with some interactive demo based on 1st standard math text of kannada medium.  This is 7 min video.

Here is the link https://youtu.be/mFHOsrNz0gY

It was little difficult to narrate and draw at the same time. There was some hiccup during my narration while drawing because tool did not work properly as I expected 😄

Hopefully we can improve the narration in upcoming videos

Above video was created using google draw and quick time player.

Here are steps to used to create this video:

  1. All the kannada text was typed using online ‘quillpad editor’
  1. Then cut and pasted all the kannada text in to online ‘google draw’
  1. Took individual screenshots of pictures available in the kannada text book by removing the watermark using ‘wondershare pdf element’
  1. Imported all the pictures in to ‘google draw’ and prepared about 7 slides to narrate.
  1. Recorded the audio using screen recording feature of ‘QuickTime player’ while keeping ‘google draw’ open
  1. Then finally uploaded the video in to YouTube.

Please note that only the online or free softwares are used to create this video. Took about 4 hours to prepare 7 min video from the scratch. It’s slides too are available in google draw.

Yogish: Here 👆is another video. Original video and Audio is created by Yakub master. Sunitha is dubbed the audio again in her own voice. Then I swapped the original audio with Sunitha’s audio without altering the video. Voice syncing by Sunitha and voice narration came out very well. We are just experimenting various methods to create kannada  study materials under Kiran’s guidance.

There are 1024 Government Schools in Capital City

Raghavendra N: Can plz justify sir/ madam

Girish : We should not focus  negatives…… lets focus on positives

Raghavendra N: S but one should not write like this also. We should respect group rules.

Girish : Sir…..please suggest how to improve…… we cannot scrap few people….. lets improve them

I agree sir

Raghavendra N: Every teacher now selected through CET exams.

HM Sunitha: We can look at what we best can do,Instead arguing

Girish : I agree. Argument is loss of time and energy…… lets see how we can change attitude positively

Raghavendra N: Our own teachers of govt created a blog called social science digital group. Once plz visit that and talk about teachers. And we are running KOER Karnataka open education resources. Now it’s considered as wiki for teachers.

Ashok: I dint mean anything.

But just uttered the truth.

But Im happy that im seeing positive attitude among my students since I hav been there from d last 4 months.

And Im syre that I’ll change the system there in a year

HM Sunitha: Very good info

Girish : Excellent input

Raghavendra N: <Media omitted> This one is one simple example of our teachers work

Nagesh TK: I am sending you this application that you may be interested.

Girish : If few teachers are not good……there are equally bad people in all areas…….lets try to improve all starting from schools too

Raghavendra N: 👌 👌 👌  s there are bad engineer, bad doctor , bad police too

Girish Mudigere: I agree

Lets not get into comparison, argument etc etc…..lets get into actions to improve GS

Yogish: Giving tablet at the young age will have negative effect. Instead I suggest big LCD tv ( 42 inch or above) or projector with internet connection is good enough to teach in classrooms. Once kids used to touch screen they tend to stop learning the writing and typing skills. Instead introduce Raspberry Pi which will help to learn computing languages and hardware too.

In above picture 10 kids are trying to struggle to view the contents. I don’t know how do they learn ?. Government can’t afford to give tab to every student. Instead a big tv or projector with internet connection is economical. Apart from that raspberry pi with some used monitors are good enough. Cost of raspberry pi is around Rs 2500. Companies like infosys happy to donate used monitors, keyboard and mouse.

We are going to show a model school with similar setup in Bangalore soon.

I just read full news. Tablet  will be given only to teachers. In that case it is okay as long as big screen or projector is provided in classrooms for the rest of the children to view the lessons. Contents in the classroom has to be mirror imaged on big screen or projector using wifi. May be it will take another 5 to  10 years to realize.
