Arun: Thr are soo many teachers and volunteers working for and want to work for development of school but do anyone know Wat day is today? ?

Rajesh: Please let us know!!!

Arun: Today is International Day of Girls.

Celebrate their life and  victory, But don’t forget to share their pain & pleasure. Always  be there for every girl as a parent, well wisher and guiding  force. Stop them from being abused, harassed in whatever way you can. Empower them and allow them to live their life in their own terms with all your love & care. Lets count on our girls  as all girls count.

The tiny little girls with sparkling in their eyes,

Chirping like birds,  their smiling is always their happiness keys.

Those ponytails swinging in air,

holding to their tiny hands they want to conquer the world.

Give them all that they deserve, a good life , a good future

Only thru a good education and empowering their youth.

Don’t sacrifice their future for something of your own,

Sacrifice your pleasure for their sake and a good career.

Let them be independent and empowered to take on this world

for girls have proved they have every potential.

And at the end they need either you or me to boost their morale.

Love you all girls out their in the world.

Evengelists Group:

Yogish: I just signed up in to CrowdIn and suggested a kannada word for an English word integer.

With the above you can suggest equivalent kannada word or sentence. Video dubbing is not mentioned in CrowdIn .

Yogish: May be Kiran can comment more on khanacademy kannada

Kiran: Please ask that person to give me a call, I can explain in detail about the translation process..

I want to know the translation process Kiran.

Kiran: Can you call me at 10:30 AM IST ? will it be too late for you ?

Yogish: I can call. It will be 11pm pacific time

Kiran: cool 10 is also fine, that will be 10:30 PM for you

Yogish: Ok thank you 🙏

Kiran: We have made a document, will share that also and walk you through

since we are looking at scale, we are trying to make it as person independent as possible

Kollegala Sharma: Include me too Kiran

Kiran: will share it here 🙂  all will get it

Yogish: Kiran, our volunteers are ready to help to translate in to Kannada including Sharma sir and Sunitha

Kiran: excellent, should I included this in 23rd Oct session, post lunch which is free as of now

they can do one complete cycle themselves I have all the tools and softwares which Sal Khan uses

Yogish: Thank you for your support Kiran !

Kollegala Sharma: I cant attend the 23 Oct programme. Have something else at Mangalore.☹

Kiran: ok will do that in Mysore session then 🙂  smile now 🙂

Gururaj Paramesha: So we need strong kannada volunteers coming from science background who can be helpful in translation

Kiran: Guru, let’s not diagrace.. Translation is an involved effort let it go in parallel track

<Media omitted>

Here is the process which we followed for the translation.. now we are using Google Translation and Transliterate since the font needs to be Unicode compliant

This also supports closed captioning which helps in runtime switching of the language

We could not get Nudi to work across softwares

Though Nudi clailms it is Unicode complaint

Sharma Sir, will explain in details when we speak todya

Gururaj Paramesha: Agree

Yogish: Thank you Kiran. I think I need more details of each block and which tools can be used for each box. You can call me or I can call

Kollegala Sharma: Yes. This is how usually it is done. When individually done the stepsvget mixed up. 😊  There must be a 5.5 in translation for standardising technical  words and the syntax used. Otherwise, it might affect recording and synchronization.

I now know where I fit in. Steps, 4, 5, n 6. (My voice is not bad😊) . Lets go!

Yogish: I can install camtasia tomorrow if required. Please let me know if we can do the audio replacement and syncing in iMovie ?

What is hot spot in math and science and what you mean mapping to khan academy video ?

Kollegala Sharma: Hot spot = important and generally difficult concepts?

Kiran: Hot spot is DSERT lingo Sharma Sir is correct, also where students are finding it hard

1 We went by concepts which are covered in HighScool than 8, or 9th

Then chose videos based on Hot Spots

Yogish: I didn’t get it

Kiran: 😉yep it is  a Hot Spot ! will explain on call

Kollegala Sharma: From the available videos, those relevant to 8,9  standards of Karnataka were chosen for translation

C K Gopala Rao: I think it’s hard spot sir

Kiran: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tlfnxkn6uyijcmj/AAALPwPfJOEzXME_Vz89kduEa?dl=0

The above folder contains one complete set of Khan Academy video and Subtitle which we have translated you can ask any question about the same

Yogish added Core HM Sunitha

Kiran: .SRT file are just text files which open in notepad or wordpad it has Kannada font which is unicode compliant you can also find once commercially translated one which is not good

Manuscript is done by one of the Maths teachers – you can see the passion and experience in that

Yogish: Thank you Kiran 🙏

Adding Sunitha

Sunitha, please feel free to ask any questions related to translation of khanacademy video in to kannada

HM Sunitha: Thanks

Kollegala Sharma: Thanks Kiran.  At it now.

Checked the dropbox.  Yes.  The commercial one will make kids opt more for English than Kannada.  Even the other text has scope for improvement, but pretty good.  Thanks Kiran. One more challenge before me. So far had only tried my own scripts for videos.  Never dubbed. Only once had done it. That was 25 years ago for a documentary of Prakash Belavady, and at the instance of Sri Nagesh Hegde.

Kiran: One suggestion. you need not have to translate word by word. just see the video 2 times and write as you would explain. don’t worry about typing.. subtitle can be of lower priority

Translation of voice is good enough for now

Yogish: Yes voice dubbing is important. Once if you can give voice in Kannada rest will be taken care by Sunitha, me and other volunteers including typing subtitles in kannada. I will start one video on this Saturday and Sunday.

Ipe is one of the good downloadable tool to draw any geometric shapes or write any mathematical equations. You can use this tool to create geometric shapes. Ms Word and Ms Power point too can be used to draw shapes. Then you can import these shapes in to eduexpress to write or explain math theory and at the same time you can record your teaching with your voice. Online Verizon of educreations too is available
